General cargo handling and storage

OT Port Gdynia is a universal conventional general cargo terminal.

The terminal has a dominant position in Poland as regards handling operations in ro-ro technology (roll-on/roll-off cargoes, semi-trailers) as well as handling and storage of paper and paper products, including cellulose.

The terminal renders handling and storage services for general cargo:

  • in the lo-lo technology,
  • in the ro-ro, sto-ro and ro-ro cassette technologies.

The Port of Gdynia handles general cargoes, for example, such as:

  • paper and cellulose on pallets and in bales,
  • steel products, wood based products,
  • fertilizers in big-bags,
  • project deliverables, project cargo, heavy items, oversized cargoes,
  • containers,
  • semi-trailers, cars, other vehicles and machines (including military equipment).

Apart from the main support for transshipment and storage, OT Gdynia Port also provides services of stuffing and stripping of pallets and containers, cargo lashing, sorting, segregation, and more.

The terminal has warehouses for general cargo storage, including warehouses dedicated for the cargoes that require special conditions, such as paper and cellulose.

OT Port Gdynia has universal infrastructure facilities and equipment for handling general cargoes:

  • 3 ro-ro ramps (including 1 duplex ro-ro ramp),
  • storage yards, warehouses and sheds,
  • Liebherr mobile heavy cranes (maximum lifting capacity of up to 80 t),
  • gantry crane (maximum lifting capacity of up to 40 t),
  • reach-stackers (maximum lifting capacity of up to 40 t),
  • mobile cranes (maximum lifting capacity of up to 30 t),
  • wharf rail cranes (maximum lifting capacity of up to 16 t),
  • terminal tractors, Liftec hydraulic undercarriages, roll trailers,
  • fork-lift trucks with specialist equipment.

General cargo is handled at five wharves:

  • Polish wharf with draught 7.50 m – 10.30 m,
  • United States wharf with draught 7.90 m – 8.00 m,
  • Romanian wharf with draught 8.80 m – 13.00 m,
  • Czech wharf with max. draught of 7.70 m,
  • Hungarian wharf with max. draught of 7.80 m.

Dry bulk cargo handling and storage

OT Port Gdynia cooperates with leaders on the international and domestic markets

OT Port Gdynia has universal infrastructure facilities and equipment for handling dry bulk and agro cargoes:

  • bulk agro, cereals,
  • middlings and feed,
  • biomass,
  • coke, coal,
  • bauxite , feldspars, dolomites.

OT Port Gdynia has the following supra/infrastructure facilities for handling dry bulk cargo:

  • storage yards, warehouses,
  • scales for road vehicles,
  • Liebherr mobile heavy cranes (maximum lifting capacity of up to 80t),
  • wharf rail cranes (maximum lifting capacity of up to 16t),
  • wheeled loaders, caterpillar track bulldozers,
  • loading hoppers.

Bulk and agro cargoes are handled at the following wharves:

  • Polish wharf with max. draught of 7.50 m – 10.30 m
  • Romanian wharf with max. draught of 8.80 m – 13.00 m
  • Rotterdam wharf with max. draught of 7.00 m – 7.50 m.
